Denise Stephanie Speaks to Essence GU About Converse Collection Celebrating Black Creatives

New York-based photographer Denise Stephanie spoke with Essence Magazine’s Girls United about how she collaborated with Converse to create the Black Joy collection.

The campaign celebrates the rich history of Black creativity in New York, particularly through the young creatives in the city. “I particularly chose artists from areas like Flatbush, Bed-Stuy, Canarsie, and East New York because these places are significant cultural enclaves that I rarely see in the limelight as a Brooklyn native myself,” she said.
